Un enregistrement effectué avec une caméra à infrarouge montre l'arrestation de Justin Bourque, l'auteur de la fusillade de l'été dernier à Moncton, au Nouveau-Brunswick.

Le 4 juin, Justin Bourque a abattu trois agents de la Gendarmerie royale du Canada et il en a blessé deux autres. Une chasse à l'homme s'est déroulée du 4 juin en soirée jusqu'à son arrestation en pleine nuit, le 6 juin, peu après 1 h. Les résidents du quartier étaient restés confinés dans leur domicile durant toute l'opération.

Les images ci-dessus prises au moment des faits par un avion de Transports Canada font partie des preuves rendues publiques vendredi. L'avion, un Dash-8, a été mobilisé le 5 juin pour participer aux recherches du suspect. La caméra à infrarouge dont il était équipé a contribué à révéler la présence du suspect dans une région boisée.

Justin Bourque a été reconnu coupable et condamné à 75 ans de prison sans possibilité de libération.

Le juge a statué que les preuves favorisaient la compréhension des évènements entourant la chasse à l'homme. Radio-Canada Acadie a toutefois décidé de ne pas diffuser la totalité des documents reçus, d'une part par respect pour la famille des victimes, et d'autre part parce que certains éléments n'aident pas à la compréhension de l'évènement.
