MONTRÉAL - Dan Hawkins serait le nouvel entraîneur-chef des Alouettes de Montréal, a révélé deux sources au fait du dossier au quotidien The Gazette jeudi.
Le nom de Hawkins circulait depuis un mois déjà, tandis que le directeur général Jim Popp et le propriétaire Robert Wetenhall participaient au processus d'embauche. Selon l'une des sources, il nommerait Mike Miller à titre de coordonnateur offensif des Oiseaux.
Hawkins, qui est âgé de 52 ans, a déjà dirigé les Broncos de l'Université Boise State entre 2001 et 2005 dans la NCAA, ainsi que les Buffaloes de l'Université du Colorado de 2006 à 2010. Il a compilé une fiche de 112-61-1 à titre d'entraîneur-chef dans le circuit universitaire américain.
Hawkins n'a aucune expérience dans la Ligue canadienne de football, mais il a connu un parcours similaire à celui de Marc Trestman, qui a été embauché le mois dernier comme entraîneur-chef des Bears de Chicago.
