Les affrontements entre manifestants et forces de l’ordre? Très peu pour lui. Dans la ville de Baltimore, qui a été lundi 27 avril le théâtre de terribles émeutes, un jeune homme s’est soudainement mis à danser sur la musique de Michael Jackson à plusieurs reprises... Une belle manière de montrer qu’il est bel et bien possible de protester de façon pacifique et créative.
Son nom est inconnu, mais il est une star sur les réseaux sociaux. Vêtu d’une veste en cuir noire, cet homme s’est mis à se déhancher sur les chansons de l’artiste mythique, alors que de violents heurts éclataient entre les protestataires et la police aux Etats-Unis suite au décès d'un jeune noir américain, Freddie Gray.
“Beat It” et “They don’t care about us”, des choix symboliques
Il se livre ainsi à une chorégraphie impressionnante sur “Beat It”, dont les paroles évoquent le courage et le fait de ne pas se laisser abattre, même après une défaite. D’ailleurs, les vidéos font écho au clip de la chanson, dans lequel une bagarre se prépare entre deux clans. Mais Michael Jackson finit par intervenir pour calmer le jeu en musique.
On peut aussi le voir danser sur “They don’t care about us”, une chanson au ton contestataire centrée sur les préjugés, la haine et les problèmes qui animent la société:
Le temps de quelques instants, les manifestants se sont arrêtés pour l’admirer, et surtout pour le filmer afin de partager ces scènes invraisemblables sur les réseaux sociaux. Le jeune homme tient ainsi tête aux sirènes des voitures de police et aux hélicoptères qui survolent la rue.
Les manifestations dans cette ville du Maryland ont débuté après les obsèques de Freddie Gray, 25 ans, décédé le 19 avril dernier alors qu’il était en garde à vue. Il avait été arrêté une semaine auparavant pour possession illégale d’un couteau. La cause de sa mort étant une fracture des vertèbres cervicales, le Département de police de Baltimore a été pointé du doigt. “Beaucoup affirment qu’il a été agressé par des agents de police”, rapporte le site Mirror.
Ce n’est pas la première fois que des affrontements éclatent entre les autorités et la communauté noire aux Etats-Unis. En cause, une liste de bavures policières qui continue dangereusement de s’allonger.
