BUCAREST — Neuf personnes de plus ont succombé samedi à leurs blessures infligées dans l'incendie d'une boîte de nuit à Bucarest il y a un peu plus d'une semaine, portant le bilan à 41 victimes.

En Roumanie, beaucoup ont blâmé les règles de sécurité laxistes du gouvernement pour l'incendie meurtrier. Le premier ministre, Victor Ponta, et son cabinet ont démissionné mercredi à la suite d'impressionnantes manifestations.

Le maire du district où l'incendie a eu lieu a été arrêté, ainsi que deux employés de la mairie, pour avoir octroyé un permis sans l'autorisation des pompiers, a annoncé samedi le bureau du procureur anti-corruption. Le maire, Cristian Popescu, a démissionné mercredi, affirmant qu'il était moralement responsable de la tragédie.

Divers hôpitaux ont rapporté samedi des décès liés au brasier du 30 octobre, qui a éclaté dans un club situé dans un sous-sol, durant un concert. Une étincelle provoquée par de l'équipement pyrotechnique a embrasé un décor en polystyrène. Les spectateurs, paniqués, se sont rués vers la seule sortie de la salle, faisant 180 blessés.

Le porte-parole de l'hôpital pour grands brûlés de l'État, Adrien Stanculea, a confirmé que trois hommes sont morts dans l'établissement samedi, alors que le responsable de l'hôpital University a rapporté un mort. Deux autres patients qui avaient été envoyés aux Pays-Bas pour un traitement spécialisé sont décédés.

Le premier ministre intérimaire, Sorin Campeanu, a aussi annoncé qu'un patient avait succombé à ses blessures dans un hôpital de Bucarest. Une seconde personne s'est éteinte un peu plus tard, au même établissement.

La neuvième victime était une femme qui reposait dans un état critique depuis l'incendie. Elle est décédée à l'hôpital Bagdasar-Arseni.

Plus tôt dans la journée, M. Campeanu avait affirmé que 109 personnes étaient toujours hospitalisées, dont 48 en état grave ou critique.

Tard samedi, quelques milliers de manifestants étaient rassemblés à Bucarest pour la cinquième soirée consécutive, brandissant des drapeaux roumains et réclamant une meilleure gouvernance et la fin de la corruption.
