La Banque Nationale a injecté 103 millions de dollars américains supplémentaires dans une banque cambodgienne afin d'accroître à 90% sa participation dans cette institution.

Avant l'annonce de cet investissement, lundi, la banque québécoise détenait 42% de l'Advanced Bank of Asia (ABA Bank).

Au total, la Banque Nationale a investi 148 millions de dollars américains dans cette institution dans le cadre de sa stratégie de croissance internationale visant à accroître sa présence dans certains marchés émergents affichant une forte croissance économique.

La contribution d'ABA Bank au résultat dilué par action de la Banque Nationale pour l'exercice 2016 s'élèvera à 17 cents par action, ce qui inclut un gain à la réévaluation du placement antérieur de 12 cents par action.

Fondée en 1996, ABA Bank, qui offre des produits et services financiers à des particuliers ainsi que des entreprises, compte quelque 1300 employés et 35 succursales. L'institution gère un actif d'environ 925 millions de dollars US.

La Banque Nationale a par ailleurs prévenu qu'elle ne prévoyait pas effectuer d'autres investissements significatifs à l'étranger au cours de la prochaine année afin de se concentrer sur la consolidation de ses activités actuelles.
