La fin de notre civilisation est-elle très proche? Si les Mayas étaient persuadés que l'apocalypse était pour le 21 décembre 2012, pour les Vikings, elle est prévue ce samedi 22 février 2014.

«Ragnarök» («crépuscule des dieux» en langage viking) consiste en l'ultime bataille que les dieux doivent se livrer jusqu'à la fin du monde. Selon la légende, si un Viking s’aventure à jouer du Gjallarhorn (un instrument à vent scandinave utilisé par le dieu Heimdall en cas d’ennemis en vue), il s'ensuivrait un compte à rebours de 100 jours avant la destruction pure et simple de notre planète.

Or, il se trouve que précisément, un malheureux a décidé de sonner du Gjallarhorn afin d'annoncer l'ouverture du Festival Viking Jorvik, un évènement célébré depuis trente ans à York, en Angleterre, rapporte le Daily Mail.

Un programme chargé

Ce à quoi vous devez vous attendre, concrètement : le gigantesque loup Fenrir devrait s'évader de prison et anéantira tous les dieux, tandis que le serpent de mer géant Jörmungandr jaillira des profondeurs des mers. Avant que la Terre ne soit ensuite pulvérisée par diverses catastrophes naturelles d'ampleur considérable - inondations, tempêtes, tremblements de terre...

Bonne nouvelle, deux survivants seront pourtant épargnés, selon la mythologie Nordique. Ils leur incombera la lourde tâche de devoir repeupler la planète après la fin du monde.
