Le chanteur Leonard Cohen remporte le prix d'auteur de l'année aux Junos

REGINA - Leonard Cohen a réalisé un doublé aux Juno en mettant la main sur le trophée de l'auteur de l'année dimanche soir à Regina. La veille, lors du premier volet de cette remise de prix, il avait remporté le prix d'artiste de l'année.

Le légendaire chanteur montréalais âgé de 78 ans fait ainsi passer son total de prix Juno en carrière à cinq. Les deux derniers lui ont été décernés pour son plus récent album, «Old Ideas», déjà certifié platine.

La jeunesse a également été à l'honneur en Saskatchewan. La jeune sensation britanno-colombienne Carly Rae Jepsen a eu le dessus à trois reprises sur son ancien mentor Justin Bieber, remportant dimanche les prix de l'album de l'année («Kiss») et de la meilleure chanson («Call Me Maybe»).

La chanteuse avait mérité la veille le premier Juno de sa carrière dans la catégorie du meilleur album pop.

Justin Bieber a tout de même été élu chouchou du public canadien dimanche soir.

L'artiste Serena Ryder, originaire de Millbrook, en Ontario, a quant à elle offert une solide prestation en interprétant sa nouvelle chanson «Stompa», tout juste avant de monter sur scène pour accepter le prix d'album alternatif adulte.

Les formations Marianas Trench (Groupe de l'année) et Monster Truck (Révélation de l'année) complètent la liste des sept lauréats de la cérémonie de dimanche, qui marquait également l'intronisation de la chanteuse k.d. Lang au sein du Temple de la renommée de la musique canadienne.

«Je crois que le fait d'être ici pour recevoir ce trophée en dit davantage sur le Canada que sur moi. Car seulement au Canada peut-on voir une personne excentrique («freak») comme k.d. lang accepter ce prix» a-t-elle après avoir échangé une étreinte avec la légendaire chanteuse Anne Murray.

Le gala a été animé par Michael Bublé, qui a lancé les festivités avec un numéro préenregistré dans lequel plusieurs vedettes, dont Kelly Ripa, Dr Phil, Gerard Butler et l'ancien animateur Russell Peters, ont remis en doute les capacités du chanteur d'animer l'événement.

Dans son monologue d'ouverture, M. Bublé a lancé quelques piques à la ville hôte de la cérémonie, Regina, en plus de s'en prendre à Justin Bieber.

Rappelons que samedi soir, Louis-Jean Cormier a vu son premier disque solo «Le Treizième Étage» lui valoir le titre d'album francophone de l'année.

L'oeuvre de l'artiste de Sept-Îles a été préférée à celles de Amylie («Le Royaume»), Avec pas d'casque («Astronomie»), Lisa Leblanc («Lisa Leblanc») et de Marie-Pierre Arthur («Aux alentours»).
