Le Cirque du Soleil annule son passage en Israël

En raison des violences qui font rage dans la bande de Gaza et en Israël, le Cirque du Soleil a annulé des représentations du spectacle Quidam prévues en août à Tel-Aviv.

Les spectacles devaient se tenir du 6 au 21 août au Nokia Arena. La décision a été prise lundi «pour des raisons de sécurité» pour les artistes et les employés de la tournée.

«Nous avons pris la décision avec le promoteur, il s'agit d'une entente de gré à gré», a expliqué Renée-Claude Ménard, directrice des relations publiques au Cirque du Soleil. «Il est trop tôt pour savoir si nous pourrons reprendre ces spectacles en 2015. Nous prévoyons nos tournées 18 mois à l'avance.»

Il devait s'agir d'un deuxième passage du célèbre cirque québécois en Israël. En 2012, le spectacle Alegria avait été présenté au même Nokia Arena. La tournée du spectacle Quidam, en pause actuellement, se poursuivra à la fin septembre en Grèce, avant de se déplacer en Suisse, en Italie puis en France.

«Malheureusement, il est impossible en ce moment d'assurer la sécurité de l'ensemble des spectateurs», expliquent de leur côté les promoteurs Marek Lieberberg et Shuki Weiss sur le site du quotidien de langue anglaise Jerusalem Post. «Nous n'avons pas d'autre choix que de regarder vers l'avant et d'envisager un retour en Israël en temps de paix.»

La semaine dernière, le rockeur canadien Neil Young avait annulé le concert qu'il devait donner le 24 juillet au Hayarkon Park de Tel-Aviv pour des les mêmes raisons.

Puis, en début de semaine, le crooner canadien Paul Anka et les groupes américains Backstreet Boys et America ont également annulé leur passage dans le pays.

Tous ces concerts devraient être remis à 2015.
