Les agents de bord l'empêchent d'appeler son mari qui menace de se suicider

Citant les règles de la Federal Aviation Administration, les agents de bord d'un vol de Southwest Airlines ont refusé à une femme d'appeler son mari, qui venait de lui envoyer un message texte suicidaire.

« Karen, s'il te plait, pardonne-moi pour ce que je suis sur le point de faire. Je vais me suicider » indiquait le texto fatidique, reçu juste avant le décollage, selon Global News.

Deux heures plus tard, à l'atterrissage à Milwaukee, la femme en question, Karen Momsen-Evers, a tenté de contacter son mari, mais n'a pas eu de réponse. C'est en rentrant chez elle et en voyant les policiers dans sa demeure qu'elle a compris que son mari, Andy, s'était effectivement enlevé la vie.

Avant le départ, au moment où elle allait appeler Andy, « l'intendant a frappé mon téléphone et m'a dit qu'il fallait que je le mette en mode avion tout de suite », explique Karen. Ses propos sont rapportés par la chaîne locale WMTJ. Deux agents de bord différents ne lui auraient aussi pas permis d'appeler la police pour les avertir du comportement de son conjoint.

Dans un communiqué envoyé à WMTJ, Southwest Airlines indique que « les agents de bord ont appris dans leur formation à avertir le Capitaine lors d'une situation urgente ». Dans le cas actuel, les pilotes « n'ont pas été informés ».

« Nous sommes de tout cœur avec la famille de la victime en ce moment difficile », ajoute le communiqué.
