Miley Cyrus est-elle trop subversive pour MTV? La question se pose après la prestation très remarquée de la chanteuse américaine lors des Video Music Awards, dimanche 25 août. L'ex-égérie de Disney, qui s'échine à casser son image de jeune fille sage, a en effet été partiellement censurée alors qu'elle interprétait son tube, "We Can't Stop".

Vêtue très légèrement, on a pu la voir sur scène danser de façon suggestive au milieu d'ours ou s'exercer à l'art du "twerking", c'est-à-dire agiter ses fesses sous les yeux du public et de Robin Thicke, comme vous pouvez le voir dans la vidéo en haut de cet article. Mais ce n'est pas cette attitude provocatrice qui a gêné MTV.

Comme l'expliquent nos confrères du HuffPost américain, la chaîne a en fait amputé, en le remplaçant par un "bip", un passage du morceau incriminé. Chanté en autotune, on peut normalement y attendre Miley Cyrus utiliser le mot "molly". Une expression qui désigne une forme d'ectasy (ou MDMA) pure et qui a visiblement déplu à MTV.

Cette cérémonie 2013 a également été marquée par le grand retour de Lady Gaga, mais surtout la consécration de Justin Timberlake. Le chanteur, couronné du Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award pour l'ensemble de sa carrière, a offert à ses fans une brève reconstitution de son ancien groupe, les NSync.
