Un incendie de forêt prenant rapidement de l'ampleur a forcé les autorités de l'Alberta à diffuser un nouvel avis d'évacuation obligatoire, cette fois dans le nord-ouest de la province.
L'avis a été publié dimanche soir dans le district municipal de Greenview en raison du brasier situé entre Fox Creek et le hameau de Little Smoky, à environ 260 kilomètres au nord-ouest d'Edmonton.
Selon les autorités albertaines, l'incendie se trouve à proximité d'une usine de l'industrie de l'énergie et brûle des deux côtés de l'autoroute 43.
Les évacués doivent se rapporter à un centre d'accueil situé à Valleyview, à l'est de Grande Prairie.
Le mercure devrait grimper au cours de la semaine et aucune pluie n'est attendue avant mercredi.
Cette nouvelle catastrophe survient deux semaines après qu'un incendie de forêt eut ravagé Fort McMurray, détruisant 2400 bâtiments et obligeant les quelque 80 000 habitants de la ville à prendre la fuite.
