La publication sur Twitter de propos racistes envers P.K. Subban jeudi soir a provoqué une importante vague de protestation.
Fâchés contre la victoire du Canadien jeudi soir contre les Bruins, certains amateurs ont en effet réagi en publiant des messages à caractère raciste à l'endroit du défenseur montréalais auteur de deux buts contre les Bruins, dont le filet victorieux en deuxième période de prolongation,.
Selon Influence Communication, qui se spécialise dans la surveillance et l'analyse des médias, le mot clic #nigger a été utilisé en association avec celui du défenseur du Canadien plus de 17 000 fois sur Twitter depuis jeudi soir.
« Certes, il semble y avoir une assez forte base raciste liée à l'utilisation de ce mot clic, mais il faut aussi comprendre que son utilisation est amplifiée par les gens qui l'utilisent à leur tour pour dénoncer les propos racistes », explique le journaliste spécialisé en médias sociaux à Radio-Canada, Vincent Grou. Une constatation qu'a d'ailleurs faite Influence Communication vendredi.
Les Bruins de Boston ont condamné les propos racistes émis par certains amateurs de l'équipe à l'endroit du défenseur du Canadien, P.K. Subban.
«Les propos racistes, exprimés dans les médias sociaux par un groupe d'individus ignorants à la suite du match de jeudi soir, ne reflètent d'aucune façon l'opinion des membres de l'organisation des Bruins de Boston», a déclaré le prédisent Cam Neely dans un communiqué émis sur le site de l'équipe.
