NEW YORK, États-Unis - Sam Mendes dirigera un autre film de la série James Bond mettant en vedette Daniel Craig, après l'énorme succès de «Skyfall».

Le réalisateur britannique avait pourtant déjà affirmé que «Skyfall» serait sa seule contribution aux aventures cinématographiques de l'agent 007. Contre toute attente, les producteurs des films, ainsi que Sony Pictures, ont annoncé jeudi sa participation au prochain Bond.

M. Mendes a récemment entamé à Londres une adaptation de «Charlie et la Chocolaterie» pour en faire une comédie musicale. Il est aussi à monter la pièce «Le Roi Lear» pour le National Theatre.

Dans un communiqué, le réalisateur a indiqué avoir accepté de réaliser le prochain film après que les producteurs de l'oeuvre cinématographique aient accepté qu'il puisse aussi travailler sur ses projets théâtral.

Le nouveau film, dont le titre n'a toujours pas été révélé, devrait prendre l'affiche à l'automne 2015. Le récit du long métrage a été laissé entre les mains du scénariste John Logan, qui était aussi la plume derrière «Skyfall».

Le film «Skyfall» a dépassé le montant de 1,1 milliard $ US de recettes à travers la planète l'an dernier.
