Vice President of Education Policy for the Southern Arizona Leadership Council and Public Voices Fellow with The OpEd Project

Colleen M. Niccum is the Vice President of Education Policy for the Southern Arizona Leadership Council in Tucson, Ariz. In this role, she is responsible for supporting the education agenda for an organization of more than 115 area CEOs and business leaders who recognize the critical role education plays in the economic prosperity of a community. Prior to joining SALC, Niccum retired from Raytheon Company following a 30-year career as a communications executive. She serves on a number of non-profit boards, including Tucson Values Teachers, Expect More Arizona, the Arizona Business Education Coalition, the Arizona STEM Network and the UA College of Education advisory board. Niccum also is a governor appointee to the Arizona Ready Council, which oversees the state’s education reform efforts.
