Co-Director, Family Values @ Work

Ellen Bravo is a co-founder and director of Family Values @ Work, a network of coalitions in 24 states working for policies such as paid sick days and paid family leave. The former director of 9to5, Ellen has written several non-fiction books, most recently Taking on the Big Boys, or Why Feminism is Good for Families, Business and the Nation. She served on the bi-partisan Commission on Leave appointed by Congress to study the impact of the Family and Medical Leave Act. Ellen has been described as “moving, witty and sometimes bawdy.” She’s a leading spokeswoman on working women ‘s issues and a frequent blogger on Huffington Post, the Ms. blog and other sites. Among her commendations are a Ford Foundation Visionary award. Ellen lives in Milwaukee with her husband; they have two adult sons. Her novel on date rape and politics, Again and Again, was published by She Writes Press.
