Ray Mikell has been a close observer of politics in the southeastern U.S., including Louisiana, for nearly two decades. He has recently taught courses in American politics, including urban politics and American public policy, at Tulane University and the University of New Orleans. He earned his PhD in Political Science at the University of Alabama in August 2005. He has also, in between running from helicopters and imaginary aliens as a movie extra for the 2011 superhero movie "Green Lantern," recently brushed up on practical politics lately by re-reading A.J. Liebling's "The Earl of Louisiana" and Hunter Thompson's '72 campaign trail book. He is ready to blog.
