Timothée Chalamet’s Bold Yellow Oscars Look Is Straight Out Of Willy Wonka

During the show’s opening monologue, host Conan O’Brien had his own thoughts on the actor’s ensemble.

Timothée Chalamet took us on a whimsical journey straight to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory with his 2025 Academy Awards’ red carpet look.

The actor, who is nominated for the Best Actor category for his role in the film “A Complete Unknown,” was the personification of sunshine on a cloudy day.

Draped in a custom all-yellow Gucci suit, paired with a bold yellow shirt and topped off with Cartier jewelry, he was quite literally the human embodiment of a lemon drop.

In keeping with the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory theme, Variety aptly dubbed Chalamet as “channeling his inner Laffy Taffy.”

While the actor was channeling the color of the ColdPlay song “Yellow” on the Oscars’ red carpet, social media users had their own fair share of thoughts.

On X, formerly Twitter, one user commented and said, “My headache just got worse thanks to him,” presumably referring to the brightness his outfit exuded. Another user cheekily remarked that Chalamet took them on a whimsical trip to the land of Oz courtesy of the yellow brick road. And one user noted that Chalamet was likely paying homage to the show’s trophy.

On YouTube, one user confessed that the first thought that came to mind when they saw the actor’s look was a yellow peep — a fitting image, considering Easter’s proximity.

During the show’s opening monologue, host Conan O’Brien had his own thoughts on the actor’s ensemble.

“Timothée Chalamet is up for best actor tonight. You are amazing. And you look amazing. I bow to you. Love that suit, O’Brien said. “You will not get hit on your bike tonight. Ah, safe. Amazing actor.”

Chalamet joins Colman Domingo for “Sing Sing,” Ralph Fiennes for “Conclave,” Adrian Brody for “The Brutalist,” and Sebastian Stan for “The Apprentice.”
