The fashion was on point during this WNBA All-Star weekend.
Big names like Angel Reese, A’ja Wilson, Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu proved they were just as much style icons as top-tier athletes when they took over Indianapolis, Indiana.
As interest in the league continues to soar, the stars’ chic game day arrivals, known to fans as the “tunnel walk,” have begun to look more like catwalk than locker room.
Dallas Wings guard DiJonai Carrington told The Athletic how looking sharp was strategic, explaining, “In a tunnel walk, even though we’re going to a game, it is work. When you have your meeting with your CEO and your bosses, you want to look your best.”
With major sponsorship money now in the mix, she said, “This might be the only thing that somebody sees from you is you walking in through the tunnel, and that might be the way that you get on their radar for a deal.”
Though designer looks certainly dominated red carpets over the weekend, athletes made another type of fashion statement with their Saturday warm-up gear.
Taking on the pay disparity between the NBA’s men’s and women’s leagues, players wore shirts with their union logo which demanded league bosses, “Pay us what you owe us.”
