As Alberta dealt with the aftermath of a flood that washed through towns and resulted in thousands of evacuations, some photos captured moments that were truly worth a thousand words.

Whether it was a much needed hug given to a police officer, or a sincere thanks from Alberta Premier Alison Redford to Capt. Jill Bristow for relief efforts, here are some of the most moving photos from the Alberta flood.
