The 55-year-old will be the second oldest Olympian to compete when he goes for the gold (or, more realistically, for a finish) when he races in the slalom in Sochi this February.
Although he doesn't stand much of a chance of getting a medal, the Prince will most definitely be one of the best-dressed thanks to the mariachi-inspired uniform he will be sporting.
The Prince told NBC Olympics that he will wear the Kappa-designed outfit, which features the designs of a black bolero jacket, a ruffled tuxedo shirt, red tie and cummerbund and the initials MEX down the side of the legs.
Interestingly enough, the flamboyant athlete is actually only one-eighth Mexican; according to Time magazine, the Austrian-native is a descendant of German royalty, the son of Prince Alfonso Hohenlohe and Princess Ira Fürstenberg. But since he was born in Mexico, he was able to represent Mexico at the Olympics and made his debut in 1984.
At the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, Hohenlohe wore a "Mexicano desperado" suit which featured bullet straps and pistoleros and proclaimed, "I'm a Renaissance Prince in the snows of Canada, so please don't look at my time – just look at my styyyyyle."
Looks like the Norwegian curlers will have some competition!
