It's raining men! Not literally, of course, but over here at The Huffington Post Canada Style we've been busy checking out some of this year's most influential dudes (it's a tough job, but someone has to do it).

The list of 49 sexy, well-dressed and intelligent gents was compiled by AskMen.com, and has been shared with us exclusively for you, our dear readers.

What makes a man "influential"? According to the site's 500,000 surveyed voters, he's someone who has done something of note in 2012.

There's Bill Clinton who usurps U.S. President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney as the survey's most influential politician. The list even calls out two popular fictional characters: Christian Grey of Fifty Shades Of Grey -- for obvious "sexy time" reasons -- and James Bond -- who just celebrated his 50th anniversary.

There are the gentlemen whose names you might not recognize, but should absolutely know: Neil Degrasse Tyson, Felix Baumgartner or Adam Driver. And then there are several hot and famous faces, like Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tim Tebow.

Think you know the Most Influential Men of 2012?

Open Image Modal
Here's why he's worthy. The stimulus vs. austerity argument may be the most pressing one in the Western Hemisphere today, and we have John Maynard Keynes to thank for laying down the argument's groundwork. Forbes has described Barack Obama's major fiscal-stimulus packages as "unreconstructed Keynesianism," and Ben Bernanke is often seen as sympathetic to Keynes' ideas. Meanwhile, the European central bankers have different ideas about how best to handle the economic meltdown on their hands. Regardless of where you fall on the for-or-anti scale, Keynes is still deeply influential, 66 years after his death.

And what about President Barack Obama's early hopes of fighting it out for GOP-tilting Arizona, Georgia or Texas? Forget them. The presidential battleground map is as compact as it's been in decades, with just nine states seeing the bulk of candidate visits, TV ads and get-out-the-vote efforts. 13. Christian Grey, Character In '50 Shades Of Grey'(37 of49)
Open Image Modal
Here's why he's worthy. The titular hero of 'Fifty Shades Of Grey,' Christian Grey, is something of a validation for all of us who've ever been told that we're getting women all wrong. Let's just put it this way: The man is no "let's just do Netflix" softie who she claims to have finally realized she needs. He doesn't help her make quinoa loaf for the potluck or run to Rite-Aid when it's that time of the month. Instead, he's more of a Sex and the City de Sade, the kind of guy who makes women sign binding (pun intended) sexual contracts and maintains a "Red Room of Pain" in his beautifully appointed home. Besides that, he's also super rich, has a helicopter and "copper sex hair." We knew it, ladies! We knew it all along!
