Scarcely had the news that Chetan Bhagat's novel, Five Point Someone, was going to be taught in Delhi University (DU) as part of the second-year English Literature 'Popular Fiction' elective paper, begun to be absorbed, that the university has lobbed another out-of-the-box proposal.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, DU now wants its English Literature students to master the art of writing Facebook posts. The report says that this will not just be about 'likes', little check-ins and 'feelings' but will comprise serious "academic writing".

This, along with blogs, cover-letters and proof-reading will now be part of the skill-enhancement course offered by the university.

The report says that the proposed changes in syllabus have been sent to all the colleges. There is no particular plan on how to conduct the course, and further instructions will be given once initial feedback has been received.

According to HT, the idea was proposed by the department's choice-based credit system core committee.
