Le maire de Québec, Régis Labeaume, a souligné que toute la communauté avait été touchée par la tragédie et qu’elle en ressortait « plus forte dans ses convictions, unie dans sa diversité et plus solidaire dans l’adversité. »

Le maire a profité de la tribune pour confirmer que la communauté musulmane aura son cimetière pour enterrer ses défunts. La nouvelle a été accueillie sous les applaudissements des quelque 3000 personnes présentes.

Régis Labeaume a conclu son discours en lançant un message d’amour à la communauté musulmane.
