La sublime actrice transgenre Laverne Cox peut ajouter "une couverture du Cosmopolitan" à sa liste de plus en plus longue d'accomplissements.
Celle qui a gagné un Emmy, produit des films, se bat pour les droits de la communauté LGBTQ passe encore une fois à l'histoire en devenant la première femme transgenre à apparaître en Une du Cosmo, plus précisément en couverture de l'édition de février du Cosmopolitan Afrique du Sud.
Le numéro ayant pour thème la Saint-Valentin avec le mot-clic #SayYesToLove met l'accent sur les problèmes qui touchent les minorités sexuelles, avec un lettrage aux couleurs du drapeau de la Fierté.
Laverne Cox, 45 ans, a partagé la couverture sur ses réseaux sociaux lundi matin.
Dans une interview vidéo qui accompagne la sortie du numéro, l'actrice fait part des célébrités qui la font craquer, du moment dont elle est le plus fière dans sa carrière, et de sa lutte constante pour l'acceptation des transgenres dans le monde hétéronormatif du show-business.
"En tant que femme noire transgenre, j'ai souvent été maintenue cachée par les hommes que je fréquentais, confie-t-elle. Alors quand mon ex-petit-ami m'a présenté à son père et m'a invité à passer Hanoukka avec lui et sa famille, c'était la chose la plus spéciale qui soit."
Elle a ajouté : "Les femmes trans méritent d'être aimées ouvertement et au grand jour."
