Le frère de l'ex-candidat à l'élection présidentielle américaine Bernie Sanders a annoncé, vendredi, qu'il présentera sa candidature pour occuper le siège laissé vacant par l'ex-premier ministre David Cameron au Parlement britannique.

Larry Sanders, qui a déclaré avoir été inspiré par le succès rencontré par son jeune frère, est le candidat du Parti vert pour la circonscription de Witney, dans l'Oxfordshire, qui est généralement remportée aisément par le Parti conservateur.

M. Sanders, un ex-travailleur social âgé de 82 ans, a souligné que son jeune frère n'aura pas à lui donner des conseils sur la façon de mener sa campagne, mais il a assuré qu'il "volerait toutes ses propositions politiques".

Lors des élections législatives de l'an dernier, David Cameron avait remporté la circonscription avec quelque 35 000 votes, tandis que le candidat vert n'avait ravi la faveur que de 2 970 électeurs.
