Stevie Wonder avait fait part de sa grande tristesse après la mort de Prince le 21 avril 2016. Le musicien qui avait confié à CNN être si dévasté qu'il ne pouvait plus écrire de chansons à rendu hommage en chanson à Prince. Il a donné rendez-vous aux fans du chanteur au Los Angeles City Hall pour un concert vendredi 6 mai.
De nombreux fans de Prince ont répondu à l'appel: des millers d'anonymes mais également des célébrités. Aloe Blacc, Faith Evans ou encore Eric Bennet sont montés sur scène avec Stevie Wonder pour interpréter Purple Rain, comme vous pouvez le voir dans la vidéo en tête d'article.
