A few months back I posted a blog about why businesses need video marketing. I had a good response and I was asked to speak about it at a networking event this month in Gloucester, which I did. It dawned on me while preparing that it was slightly ridiculous to be spouting statistics about video marketing to a room full of business owners, when I could take the opportunity to demonstrate what we do and practice what I preach. So over the last couple of weeks we’ve been producing a short video, about video marketing. Makes much more sense doesn’t it? How can I talk about the rise of video marketing without showing the benefits. But first here’s a quick intro.

These days we work on more video than print and that’s no surprise. Traditional print marketing is slowly evolving into a world of content marketing and if you do it right, the results can be rather rewarding. More and more consumers now are turning to video to learn about a brand or a product and more importantly, they’re sharing this information with their peers via social media. This is a huge development. By September 2015, Facebook video views per day had reached 8 billion! But there are many reasons so without further ado, here are 10 reasons you should be investing in video marketing!

Hopefully those statistics will give you some food for thought and it doubles as a sample of what we create for clients, tailored and bespoke to each client of course! Head over the website for more samples.

As with anything, there are some basic rules you should follow if you’re thinking of jumping on the bandwagon.

1. Keep it short! Users are far more likely to click on a 2 minute video than a 20 minute video. People just don’t have that kind of time anymore.

2. Call to Action! Link back to your website. It’s pointless commissioning a well thought out video if you’re not going to tell users where to go to get that product/service.

3. Keep everything up to date! You’ve created a video, you’ve added a call to action, and then your consumers arrive at an outdated website with no relevant information. Ooops! Keep all your online platforms fresh.

4. Make it valuable. What are consumers going to gain from watching it. Teach them something new, give them valuable insight or entertain them! 65% of users say they’d share a video if it was informative.

5. Show your brand personality. As the video says, your competitors are probably already marketing with video so make sure you stand out. What differentiates your products and services from your competitors?

7. Share it! Use social media and get the video seen! Send it via email marketing to existing and potential clients.

8. It doesn’t need to be expensive or time consuming. Businesses are regularly commissioning videos like this one but if you’re a small business with a small budget why not get creative with your phone? Interview a happy customer or introduce a new product that’s arrived and share on social media. But don’t forget the points above!

The bottom line is you can’t ignore the explosion of visual content online so it’s time to get involved and stay relevant. As always, get in touch for some free advice and happy filming!
