Even while crying, you may find yourself smiling, and even having renewed faith in humanity while quietly loathing Keira Knightley’s impossibly clear skin and being wooed by Hugh Grant’s impossible charm.

Watching Love Actually this year, I decided to record the best lines in the whole movie. Some are brilliant on their own. Others are mostly brilliant in context, but I am not giving you the context. Go watch it yourself. If you don’t believe it is the best movie ever, just ask Chris Matthews.

  1. “There was more than one lobster present at the birth of Jesus?”
  2. “Wouldn’t be great if number one this Christmas wasn’t some smug teenager, but an old ex-Heroin addict searching for a comeback at any price? 3. “Who do you have to screw around here to get a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit?”
  4. “You know perfectly well that any bar anywhere in America contains 10 girls more beautiful and more likely to have sex with me than the whole of the United Kingdom.”
  5. “Worse than the total agony of being in love?”
  6. “I look quite pretty.”
  7. “W-w-w-o-o-ould we call her chubby?”
  8. “We need Kate. And we need Leo. And we need them now.”
  9. “We can’t even afford pajamas…which means, we would be naked.”
  10. “As much as it grieves me to say it, it might be that the people I love is in fact, you.”
  11. “Eight is a lot of legs, David.”
  12. “Right…so not quite as secret as we’d hoped.”
  1. Just in cases.”

And of course…
