Celestial bodies from fashion, film, theater philanthropy, arts and finance ascended on Lincoln Center on the evening of November 30th in Manhattan. The Lincoln Center Corporate Fund honored Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of Women’s Collections, Nicolas Ghesquière with a gala at Alice Tully Hall. Outside paparazzi and fans snapped the arrivals on the red carpet.
Entering Alice Tully Hall, an exclusive one-night-only installation celebrating the venerable French fashion house Louis Vuitton with provocative 3-D panels were the fashionable guests mingled over cocktails and hors d oeuvres.
Hearst President and CEO Steven R. Swartz and chairman of the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund and Lincoln Center President Debra L Spar were satellite by the many stars of the gala host committee Nicole Kidman, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Connelly, Paul Bettany, Catherine Deneuve, Léa Seydoux, Sophie Turner, Riley Keough, Ruth Negga, Justin Theroux, Laura Harrier, Jaden Smith, Xavier Dolan, Noomi Rapace, Hidetoshi Nakata, Pat McGrath and Cindy Sherman. Hearst Magazines Chief Content Officer Joanna Coles, Lincoln Center Chair Katherine Farley, Vanessa Getty, Michael Burke, Jerry and Tina Speyer, Robert Baker and Brigitte Burke added star power to the evening. Nicolas Ghesquière was the superstar of the evening. Lauded for his many years of excellence in the fashion industry, since taking over as Louis Vuitton Artistic Director of Women’s Collections in 2013 his architectural cutting edge designs are coveted by Le beau monde.
The stylish black tie guests sashayed into the Adrienne Arsht Theater for the award presentation and a performance by Grammy award winning artist WoodKid. Gala co-chair and Harper’s BAZAAR Editor-in-Chief Glenda Bailey welcomed everyone to the evening. Nicholas accepted the Women’s Leadership Award from resplendent in Louis Vuitton, Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly. As he held the Lalique statue, he validated his support and love of women around the world. Woodkid performed accompanied by a full orchestra and chorus. The surprise finale International icon Catherine Deneuve joined Woodkid performing in a duet.
After the performance the Beautiful People sashayed to a seated candlelight dinner. Gala Co-Chairs Glenda Bailey Christina Baker Fiona & Stan Druckenmiller, Miroslava Duma and Steven R. Swartz orchestrated an intimate and luxurious evening.
The elegant affair sponsored by Hearst and Harper’s BAZAAR netted $1.7 million for The Lincoln Center Corporate Fund. The annual fundraiser supports artistic, educational, and community outreach programs to The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Film Society of Lincoln Center , Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Juilliard School, Lincoln Center Theater, The Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, New York Philharmonic and School of American Ballet of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.The Lincoln Center Corporate Fund provides unlimited financial resources to the ten resident artistic companies on the landmark treasured arts campus.
