We gave you tips on finding a place to stay and getting internet access while in Cuba. Now, we’re going to help tackle your appetite.

Here are a few recommendations on dining while visiting Cuba:

1. Our own home. We had our most delicious meals in our Casa Particular. Our host family charged $7 per person for breakfast and it was worth every penny. Each morning we had an extravagant breakfast, fit for royalty! Dinner was only $10 per person and equally amazing.

2. Supermarkets. We didn’t buy food from the supermarkets as the selections weren’t that extensive, but we did stock up on bottled water, wine and our favorite, Mulata rum.

3. Farmers markets. When you’re on the hunt for fruits and veggies, look no further than a local farmers market. Your host family can easily direct you to the nearest one.

While in Cuba you’re going to want to give your taste buds a go at restaurant cuisine. Here are several recommended restaurants:

1. Los Nardos- Located in Old Havana, This restaurant specializes in Spanish food, which is one of my favorite ethnic cuisines. They serve quality, fresh food with large portions.

2. Doña Eutema- Also located in Old Havana, this well-known restaurant serves delicious Cuban food. Get to know its rich history before you visit.

3. Motivos Restaurant & Bar. Located in Vedado/Centro neighborhood, the best part of Motivos was its fun, open-air environment. Next time we’ll go back for drinks at night because the bar looked to be a lot of fun too.

4. Casa de la Amistad. We stumbled upon this interesting café/restaurant while walking around one day. It has a beautiful outdoor garden, amazing vintage architecture and very cheap food!

5. Dulce Habana. This was one of our favorite restaurants in Havana. It offered a relaxed atmosphere with clean, stylish facilities. In addition to the cute cabanas, it had a wonderful selection of pizzas - our favorite was the Jeans Pizza (tomato sauce, mozzarella and pesto salsa)!
