President Donald Trump absolutely lost it on social media Wednesday morning with an unhinged post responding to a story in The New York Times that suggested he was showing “signs of fatigue” and now working “shorter days.”
The piece written by Katie Rogers and Dylan Freedman, published on Tuesday, argued that 79-year-old Trump’s attempted projection of “round-the-clock energy, virility and physical stamina” is becoming increasingly difficult to pull off.
They pointed to his recent apparent dozing off during an Oval Office event and his reduction in official appearances as evidence. Read the full article here.
The notoriously thin-skinned Trump responded with a lengthy, 300+ word screed on his Truth Social platform.
“The Creeps at the Failing New York Times are at it again,” he began the post, before pivoting to boast about his 2024 election — including a typo “one our Nation’s Districts by 2750 to 550, a complete wipeout.”
Trump repeated some of his frequent talking points about the economy, his role in securing ceasefires and bringing down inflation.
Then he turned back to attacking the premise of the article:
“To do this requires a lot of Work and Energy, and I have never worked so hard in my life. Yet despite all of this the Radical Left Lunatics in the soon to fold New York Times did a hit piece on me that I am perhaps losing my Energy, despite facts that show the exact opposite.”
“They know this is wrong, as is almost every thing that they write about me, including election results, ALL PURPOSELY NEGATIVE,” he continued.
Trump called the Times, who he has torn into over its critical coverage of him for years, a “cheap ‘RAG’” that is “truly an “ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE.”
He then said Rogers “is assigned to write only bad things about me, is a third rate reporter” and echoing his “Quiet, Piggy” attack on another female journalist this month, he added Rogers is “ugly, both inside and out.”
Trump concluded: “There will be a day when I run low on Energy, it happens to everyone, but with a PERFECT PHYSICAL EXAM AND A COMPREHENSIVE COGNITIVE TEST (“That was aced”) JUST RECENTLY TAKEN, it certainly is not now!”
