El Chapo has been on the run since his daring escape from a Mexican prison, during which he tunneled out from a shower room, along carefully laid rail tracks, and out towards freedom. In escaping, he not only made a mockery of the Mexican authorities, but also made a mockery of justice in general.

Seven months after his arrest, the drug lord has been captured yet again. After a shootout with marines in the city of Los Mochis which saw five people killed and a marine wounded, an unnamed source confirmed that the violence was due to a successful attempt to capture The Scourge of Mexican Sovereignty.

Mexican President, Pena Nieto updated his Twitter with the following:

"Mission accomplished: we have him."

During the raid, marines not only captured the fugitive, but also a deadly arsenal that included two armored vehicles, a handgun, an RPG, and eight long guns. El Chapo, who has often been protected by a population (residents of his home state of Sinaloa) that views him as a modern day Robin Hood, was eventually brought down by an unlikely tip-off.
