'It Gets Better' MTV Special Trailer, Featuring Dan Savage (EXCLUSIVE)

FIRST LOOK: MTV's 'It Gets Better' Special

MTV and Logo, along with with Dan Savage, co-creator of the It Gets Better Project, are joining forces for an hour-long TV special that focuses on the emotional struggles and societal pressures facing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer youth.

"It Gets Better" is set to premiere on both MTV and Logo on Tues., Feb. 21 at 11 p.m. EST. The emotional special will take viewers inside the lives of three young people, who are at different stages of coming to terms with their sexual orientation and gender identity.

"The lives of these three young people will resonate with millions of teens –- gay and straight -- who are being bullied for simply being themselves,” said Savage in an official statement. "It's so important they know that things get better and that living openly and honestly and being who you are makes it better. They have so many great moments ahead of them and they will do things they never thought possible – so long as they keep fighting, stay positive, and stay with us."

In addition, video messages containing sentiments of support from Savage and his partner Terry Miller, along with hopeful messages from celebrities -- including Adam Levine, Zachary Quinto, Margaret Cho, Chaz Bono, "Jersey Shore's" Vinny Guadagnino, Dave Holmes, Sia and Jake Shears -- will be included in the hour-long special.

Savage will also star in MTV's upcoming series "Savage U," which is set to premiere this spring. The show will follow Savage as he travels across the country to different college campuses, offering a advice to students on relationships, responsibility, sex, love and life.

The "It Gets Better" special airs Tues., Feb. 21 at 11 p.m. EST on MTV and Logo.
