Josh Taylor, Florida TV Reporter, Becomes Crime Victim While Covering Alleged Rental Scam (VIDEO)

WATCH: Reporter Becomes Victim Of Grand Theft Auto

When a reporter shows up to ask questions about a possible rental property scam, most people either give a statement or close the door. On Friday, the subject of one such interview reacted by allegedly carjacking the journalist.

According to WTXL-TV, Florida chiropractor Dr. Craig Siegal allegedly placed an advertisement on the Internet for an 11-bedroom rental home on Siesta Key. When an elderly woman rented the place for a family reunion, she was stunned to discover that the property only had five bedrooms -- and several code violations.

After getting stiffed out of her deposit, the renter contacted WWSB-ABC 7 for an investigation of the alleged property scam. Veteran reporter Josh Taylor went to the house and was just setting up his camera when a woman confronted him, seizing his tripod and driving away in his newsvan.

Taylor caught the incident on camera (see video above). He later found his vehicle a few blocks away.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office identified the woman as Jean Price. The State Attorney's office will decide if she will be charged with grand theft auto. It is unknown if Price had any connection to the alleged scam.

Siegal contacted ABC 7 on Friday night to say that he's trying to make the situation right, but he doesn't have the money to refund the renter.

The odd incident, which went viral, has prompted Taylor to return to Twitter:
