I was thrilled to get the text, telling me I had the part of Diana, in episode 10 of the new Syfy show called Superstition. When I read the full script there was a line indicating my character Diana, was dying. Good news/bad news. Yay I have some work, but too bad it’s finite. I filmed my part, had a marvelous time on the set, and I said goodbye feeling grateful for the 3 days of work.

Imagine my surprise when I got the email two weeks later, asking about my availability for episode 12. Another episode? My character Diana hadn’t died yet, because she was needed to join forces with other Wiccan High Priestesses and fight the forces of the evil Dredge. Cool! I would only be needed on the set for one day, but that day was a pip! There was to be a big supernatural fight, and we’d be filming green screen, and fighting otherworldly beings, using our Wiccan magic. If all goes well, there may be energy rays coming out of my hands at some point!

There were to be 4 total Wiccans, and the script indicated that one Wiccan would snuff it during the fight. There was no indication as to which Wiccan would croak. Please let some other Wiccan die, and not me I prayed. If another Wiccan kicks the bucket, and if there is a Season 2 of Superstition, there could be an oh-so-slender chance that Diana would be called upon once more to fight evil. Since episode 12 hasn’t aired yet. . . . I will keep mum, about which Wiccan gets called home.

Episode 12 was the final episode of the first season of Superstition. There should be all sorts of surprises and special effects. I can only imagine what the finished result will look like. It was really a really long, but fun day on the set. I think it was 13 hours or so? It was a long day. There were special treats because it was the last episode. Kind of like the last day of school in a way. After 8 hours of working, there was a special meal which was a true feast. There were plastic champagne glasses on the tables, and sparkling cider to toast with. There were short speeches and congratulatory toasts. Everyone was given really a cool keychain, and a t-shirt. A special photo was taken. Then we all went back to work until the wee hours.

Sometime late at night we were offered vegetarian chili. I was still full from supper, so I took mine home with me. Then sometime later, a coffee and cupcake truck pulled up and we were offered fancy tea or coffee and cupcakes. My peach cobbler cupcake came topped with ice cream, sprinkles and whipped cream.

It’s unusual to have so many treats in one day, but when it happens. . . .it’s memorable. I was very lucky indeed, to be needed to fight the forces of evil in the final episode. I hope the show does well. It’s just the kind of escapist fare that’s needed these days.

Mabel and I continue to see movies any chance we get. We bought online movie passes, for 10 dollars a month, which allow us to see one movie per day at most theatre chains. We’ve been reviewing them on our podcast which can be found here and more recent films can be found here

Our top picks so far, are: Lady Bird, Daisy Winters and My Friend Dahmer.
