New Jersey Restaurant Week Starts Sunday ... But Only One Jersey City Restaurant is Participating

Hundreds of restaurants across the state will be offering incentives to diners when the second annual New Jersey Restaurant Week kicks off Sunday, September 19. But despite Jersey City’s robust dining scene, only one city establishment is taking part.

Liberty House in Liberty State Park (76 Audrey Zapp Drive) is the only Jersey City restaurant involved in the week-long promotion, which is sponsored by the New Jersey Restaurant Association (NJRA), though five additional Hudson County restaurants are also taking part (Arthurs Tavern and the Brass Rail in Hoboken, Spanish Pavilion in Harrison, Touch of Spice in Weehawken and Urban Plum in Secaucus).

Liberty House’s special offer will be complimentary dessert and coffee, but other restaurants are offering 20 percent off, or special fixed-price Jersey Fresh menus. Some are also collection donations for Share Our Strength, a nationwide anti-hunger organization; Spanish Pavillion is the only Hudson restaurant taking part in that promotion.

“We're impressed with the diversity and quality of restaurants taking part” in the week, says NJRA president Deborah Dowdell. “[We] encourage the public to continue to dine out often — an important driver of our state's economy.”
