Nike Women sends a powerful message with the new release of Nike Pro Hijab and pro-figure skater Zahra Lari, setting a new mark and breaking boundaries of what it means to be unstoppable.

Nike encourages girls and women in sports who are religious to actively participate in regular sport activities with the perfectly sculpted and aesthetically pleasing, Nike Pro Hijab.

Zahra Lari - remember that name. She is the first Arab woman and figure skater to compete in a hijab. Lari, 22, began figure skating at the age of 12 after watching the Disney princess movie, “Ice Princess.”

She is not only The Ice Princess, but an Ice QUEEN in the eyes of all of her beloved followers and supporters.

The world’s first hijab wearing professional ice skater aspires to make her mark at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

With Nike Women releasing the new Nike Pro Hijab, Lari definitely won’t be the last Emirati figure skater from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, hopefully, to compete internationally.

Nike has just opened the doors for many women out there with dreams, talent, and goals like Lari to follow in her footsteps and make history.

The Nike Pro Hijab has been a year in the making, but its impetus can be traced much further back to Nike’s founding mission, to serve athletes, with the signature addendum: If you have a body, you’re an athlete.

The Nike Pro Hijab garment has been a year in the making with the introduction of Middle Eastern stores, collections inspired by Nike’s roster of elite female athletes, women’s races, Nike Run Clubs and the NTC App in Arabic.

Nike continuously revamped and tinkered the garment according to performance problems reported by top-flight athletes on wearing a traditional hijab during competition. Nike took into consideration such factors as the garment’s weight, breathability, and flexibility during swift action and movement. Nike tested the garments continuously with everyday athletes from around the Middle East including cyclists, and runners who assessed the durability of the hijab. Through performance feedback and taking into consideration the aesthetically pleasing versatile look to match the needs of the wearer. Nike also realized that each country had its own particular style, therefore, the ideal garment design would need to accommodate a wide variety of audiences. Nike Headquarters also ensured that the hijab met cultural standards by reaching out to local communities and advocates to make the design perfect. To enhance the overall focus of athletes, Nike created a competition-worthy headscarf that is light, breathable, and made to fit diverse cultural standards.

Nike

“By providing Muslim athletes with the most groundbreaking products, like the Nike Pro Hijab, Nike aims to serve today’s pioneers as well as inspire even more women and girls in the region who still face barriers and limited access to sport: Fewer than one in seven girls participate in locally recommended sport activities for 60 minutes or more.”

Nike has sorted out all the details to make the perfect head scarf for athletes. The pull-on design is a durable single-layer Nike Pro power mesh. The fabric used with lightweight polyester features tiny, strategically placed holes for optimal breathability and is opaque with a soft touch. The mesh stretches and adapts to the wearer’s head and sport. The back is also ensured to not come untucked. Fluff threads were included at the neck to prevent irritation with sweat. At the request of athletes, the official signature Nike Swoosh lay above the left ear to highlight the hijab’s pinnacle performance nature. The hijab comes in XS/S and M/L with the debut colors: black ,vast grey with obsidian as athletes requested dark neutral colors.

Nike Women and Disney just showed the world that little girls with big dreams are indeed an unstoppable force.
