Most of us have dreams of doing what our passion in life is. Many of us also, do not have the guts to make our dreams a reality. But, if most of us follow our instincts and try to achieve persistence, patience and knowledge to make a lucrative career—would we take the plunge into entrepreneurship?

The above question is similar to NYC comedian Del Harrison”s cross-country move to Los Angeles . Already making a name for herself and producing her web show, “Another Sketch Comedy” in New York City, Del decided she should expand her brand out West. Immediately after moving to LA, Hollywood Improv extended residency to the NYC comic. In less than 6 months, Del’s new show, “Standup, Storytelling and Sangin'!” was born.

Living in New York, Del worked as an office assistant and exotic dancer while hustling standup gigs in popular nightclubs throughout the city. You might know Del from a YouTube video spoofing Oscar winner and comedian Mo ‘’Nique. Or, maybe you remember Del’s gracious compliment from Jamie Foxx at Laffapalooza, crowning her as the “Best of New Faces.” Constantly on the hustle, in 2016, Harrison was recognized for making it to the finals in HBO’s Comedy Wings Competition at this year’s ABFF Film Festival in Los Angeles.

“We [comedians] all can’t get the part, so we help each other succeed and it makes me feel better when I see one of my friends winning.”

Del loves to connect with her fellow comics and suggest advice to younger comedians. Harrison says the key to generating a buzz for your brand is to share information on auditions, casting companies and anything in between in your creative community. She explains that holding information because you don’t want someone else to get the job is selfish, “ We know that we all can’t get the part, so we help each other succeed, and it makes me feel better when I see one of my friends winning,” says Del.

A natural on stage, Harrison shared some of her tips for handling a performance. Del shared that she always keeps a blank mind, sings and sometimes performs face exercises to stay fresh. Putting all her energy into her legs by pacing back and forth, Harrison says this helps with timing and attention to detail when first taking the stage, so you can gauge the crowd’s vibe.

“Standup, Storytelling and Sangin'! gathers a group of comedians telling their crazy stories on stage. Unlike shows with theme-based team competition, formal standup or improv games, “Standup, Storytelling and Sangin'! is a mash up of comedians covering various trending topics and scenarios. Every show consists of a live band, standup, embarrassing stories, singing, trending news coverage/spoofs and more. “Sometimes you just want to tell people what’s been going on!” says Del. Amanda Seales, Zane F. Johnson and Corey Fernandez are a few celebs that have performed on the web show recently.
