In 1943 Princess Alice mother of Prince Philip (The Duke of Edinburgh) and Prince Charles’s grandmother hid the Cohen’s and their children and a number of Jews from the Nazi’s during World War ll in her castle in Greece. At that time the Nazi’s sent the majority of Greek Jews to Concentration camps where they were killed.

Princess Alice was recognized by Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem as a “Righteous Among the Nations” and is buried at the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, above the Garden of Gethsemane, on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.

Prince Charles of Whales said in a speech made at the Jewish Museum in Vienna, to a group of Holocaust survivors. That he was very proud of his grandmother’s role in saving the Cohen family and others during the Holocaust.

After Prince Charles sat down and spoke to some survivors, they were very impressed, on how well informed he was about the Holocaust.
