We’ve found some kicks that will casually make you the talk of the town, whether at a festival or at the airport. They’re hand designed and they’re not cheap. But if you take the plunge and get them, you’ll likely not regret it.

Gipsy Dharma / Facebook

We’ve been eyeing Gipsy Dharma for over two years now. These leather lace up boots are whimsical and fun. There’s nothing like them around. There isn’t even any good knock-off versions. These lace up boots will appeal to everyone with at least one hippie bone in their body. They come in a variety of colors and lengths, from booties to over-the-knee. Imagine the looks of admiration as you rock these out at your favorite summer festival.

Qustom Quinns

We met designer Quinn at a conference and digged her personal style. Then when we checked out her Qustom Quinns website we were blown away and fell in love at the same time. We haven’t seen this old school canvas artwork in years! Quinn will design nearly anything you want on canvas. But don’t worry if you draw a blank or are out of ideas, our artist friend has plenty of options to suggest. But of course, you know us travelers are swooning over the map designed Vans.

Imelda Shoes / ETSY

We happened upon Imelda Shoes while trolling Etsy and became obsessed with these black and gold oxfords. The slip on design is like no other we’ve seen, and they’re made of super silky leather. Which we can only imagine would be heavenly to your feet. Appropriately named “Billie Jean”, this design is sold out; but they can be made upon request. Or, don’t get stuck on this design (like we did) - they have a portfolio of other unique leather flats.

THOSE SHOES / ETSY

These purple leather “NO SHOES” by the shop THOSE SHOES had us...well...because they’re purple. The simple and cozy design is produced by the artist Mik Wright, who is inspired by his adventures from Swaziland to West Virginia. These shoes are perfect for the traveler in transit - on the airplane or train, or to scoot around in a mountain cabin. Wright describes them as “a cuddle for your feet.” They are durable, weatherproof, and you will feel like you’re walking barefoot...except, yanno, without the yucky side effects of being barefoot.
