Earlier this year Mattel released a reproduction of what was quite possibly the greatest toy of 1985 - Peaches n' Cream Barbie. How did a toy without lasers, sound effects, or anything battery operated become such a long-loved classic? It probably helped that the doll is an homage to that most delectable color, that most wearable of fruits - Peach.

Clockwise from top left:

  1. Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss in Max is a creamy peach gloss with a hint of shimmer. Hard to say which is sweeter, the crème brûlée flavor or the hunk of man-candy pictured on the bottle.

  • Hard Candy Fortune Gloss in Destiny gives lips a glassy finish and has a working Magic 8-Ball built right into the tube for a nostalgic toy fix.

  • Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion in Flash gives skin a dreamy, opalescent glow and can be used as a highlighter or for a full-face effect.

  • American Apparel Nail Polish in Summer Peach is a chalky pastel that looks especially lovely on Malibu Barbie skin tones.

  • Estée Lauder Pure Color EyeShadow in Kenyan Copper is a warm peach shimmer that compliments all eye colors.

  • Hard Candy Blush Crush - Baked Blush in Honeymoon, a pinkish-peach shade that leaves a pearly sheen on cheeks. The powder formula applies easily wet or dry for blendable, buildable coverage.

  • Tarte Natural Cheek Stain in Tipsy is made with real fruit extracts and smells faintly edible. Cheeks are left with a dewy, natural-looking flush.

  • NYX Round Lipstick in Iris is a frosted color straight out of the 1980s. The golden peach shade is striking on its own, or it can be layered over other lipsticks for a more subtle effect.

    • Just remember, when turning to Barbie for beauty inspiration, use caution! The color peach is universally flattering. Oversized chiffon ruffles are not.
