“I wish I had at least 10 more hours in a week. I’m constantly working, but there just isn’t enough time to get things done.”

This is something that I hear very frequently among fellow entrepreneurs that have managed to replace their corporate income and are on their way to scaling the business to a point where it can start to smoothly run without them, with team members.

When it comes to overcoming such struggle, I see two different approaches— either working all the time (hating themselves and burnt-out) or seeking out productivity strategies or new strategies as to how to get things done (blaming themselves thinking that it’s a matter of work ethic).

Regardless of the approach, the commonalities are clear: take the blame, get burnt out, stressed, and thinking that it’s the work ethic that’s an issue.

But here’s a newsflash. For most entrepreneurs I come across, there is nothing wrong with how they are.

Nothing wrong with the strategies. Nothing wrong with productivity tactics. Nothing wrong with work ethic.

Before I say anything else (giving you actual reasons etc), answer this— if you were to be asked to PERFECTLY execute and manage 75+ different tasks on top of your personal and social commitments, would you be able to do it?

Chances are, your answer is “no, at least not without .......” . Things like: at least not without having someone or a robot helping out, or having all the time in the world to execute and manage these tasks properly. Eliminating certain tasks. Having tech help. Or without being a unicorn that happens to be perfectly good at everything.

And most people I’ve asked this questions have said the same thing.

“No, I won’t be able to PERFECTLY execute and manage 75+ different tasks on top of my personal and social commitments. At least not without ......”

Well.... Guess what? I was actually just describing your business, and of the commitments you have.

I recently did a half day intensive. We sat down together, and identified over 75 different business operations activities that are going on in online-based service businesses that are generating multi six-figures in revenue. We didn’t even include client deliverable and client management work in this list either.

75 different business activities.

You said you won’t be able to perfectly execute and manage 75+ different tasks without (insert whatever you need help with).

Yet you’re trying to do EXACTLY that for your business. And even if you are not generating multi six-figures in revenue yet, you would still be doing a decent amount of these tasks (and will be hitting that 75 very soon if you’re thinking of doing launches, releasing digital products etc).

It’s not that you have a bad work ethic. It’s not that you aren’t smart enough.

It’s just that there are just way too many things that must be done.

Thankfully, there’s a really simple (and effective) fix for this.

Let’s go back to that response again. This time, let’s think from a business perspective. Think like a CEO.

“No, I won’t be able to PERFECTLY execute and manage 75+ different tasks on top of my personal and social commitments. At least not without ________________________”.

And then whatever you filled the blank with, whether it’s getting yourself that automation tool, a clear cut strategy, hiring a team member, getting rid of certain projects on your plate etc, figuring out what tasks you REALLY want to be doing... Go implement that in your business!
