It's every "The Voice" contestant's worst nightmare, and we're not talking about having to awkwardly hug Carson Daly after each performance.
Bring it in here!
Monday night, April 21, "The Voice" kicked off its live shows with some awesome performances. Then all of a sudden during Kristen Merlin's song, the sound cut out. All across the country, millions of people were turning up the volume on their TVs until they realized what happened. The mic had died.
Everyone collectively cringed ... everyone except for Merlin. She merely removed her earpiece and kept singing like nothing was wrong, finally being handed a new mic to hit her last note of Sugarland's "Stay."
The judges had nothing but praise, however; Adam Levine commented, "That was real inspiring to see you be cool."
You can watch the whole performance above.
"The Voice" airs Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
