On March 31st, I gave a talk at Hacker Dojo in Mountain View for the
Women Who Code
group. In it, I addressed many of the myths about being a female entrepreneur that are currently circulating in the industry. For example:
  • There's a bias against women in Silicon Valley
  • You CAN and SHOULD try to DO IT ALL
  • VC rejection equals sexism
  • VCs hit on women
And many others.

Here's a recording of the session. I do believe those of you who are navigating these issues would find this useful.

For those of you who took great exception to my Talented Women: Please Do NOT Quit article from April 2014, I also have a much better explained perspective to offer.

You see, my philosophy of feminism is individualism. If women want to stay at home and raise children, that's fine. However ...

Yes, there's a however, and you need to listen to this recording to fully understand that caveat, before pouncing on me. (Thank you!)

In addition, I want to point you to two resources that will help you in your journeys:
  1. Feminine Feminism, a book that celebrates the success of women entrepreneurs.
  2. An Online Course that helps entrepreneurs accelerate their success.
Also, one of the questions that I answered during the Q&A of this evening was: How do I find a mentor as a female entrepreneur?

Well, my commitment to all of you who are pursuing this path is that I will help you navigate technology entrepreneurship as best as I can, if my views in this recording resonate with you.

On the other hand, if your brand of feminism leans more towards a victim oriented, excuse-oriented line, I wouldn't be the best person for you to work with. You'd need to find someone else who is more in tune with that point of view.

Nonetheless, I sincerely want to see more women entrepreneurs succeed. I believe there IS a method to this madness. You CAN learn that method. I am willing to teach you.
