Zoos Across The U.S. Participate In #CuteAnimalTweetOff Because Hope Is Not Dead

America needs this right now.

Here’s a bright light in an otherwise bleak week.

The nation’s many zoos took to Twitter on Tuesday to give America exactly what it needs: photos of really cute baby animals.

According to Mashable, the whole thing started when the Smithsonian National Zoo tweeted a photo of the gray seal pup that was born over the weekend. Twitter user Sarah Hill then asked the Virginia Aquarium to counter, and started one of the happiest hashtags of 2017.

From there, other zoos and aquariums across the country joined in, which really raised the stakes.

The effort even went global!

Can we do this every Tuesday?
