A robbery at a marijuana dispensary over the weekend has the Vancouver Police Department not only investigating the incident, but the store itself as well.

Two men entered the Weeds Glass & Gifts location at Main Street and 51st Avenue on Friday night just before 9:00 p.m., according to a police news release. One man was armed with a handgun and a can of bear spray, holding staff at gunpoint while the other took the weed.

No one was hurt and no shots were fired, but marijuana from the property was stolen, prompting an investigation.

Weeds Glass & Gifts does not have a business license and the nature of their business is illegal, police spokesman Sgt. Randy Fincham told The Province.

“We have begun an analysis of what is happening with the store,” he said to the paper.

Operations such as this could potentially result in criminal charges associated with drug trafficking if the case went before a court of law, Fincham told The Huffington Post B.C.

In a Facebook post on Monday night, Weeds confirmed the robbery.

Just for [t]he record. The rumors are true,” it states. “We did get robbed. Lucky no one was harmed.” The status said that the police helped “recover some weed and brought it back to the store not once but twice that night” and thanked the department for responding to the call quickly.

It's not the first time Weeds has received police attention.

Last June, the Vancouver Police Drug Squad searched the store's Kingsway location on a warrant related to a drug investigation, concluding the business was “operating in an unsafe manner.” A news release at the time pointed out that the department’s drug squad routinely monitors dispensaries in Vancouver and follows up on complaints about the stores.

Anyone with information about Friday's incident is asked to call police.

The suspect with the gun is described as a 5’6” Asian man, possibly 25 to 30 years old. He had a thin face and a stocky build, wearing a jacket, pants, and baseball cap, all in black. The second suspect is believed to be a six-foot tall slim South Asian man wearing a balaclava, grey hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants. and white runners. He had a red and black backpack.
