Je ne sais pas par où commencer alors je me jette à l'eau, comme ça, sans précautions oratoires, mon fils: je suis musulman !

Oui, je sais, tu le savais déjà, mais je veux te le dire, je veux que tu l'entendes de ma voix avant que ce mot ne disparaisse, avant qu'il ne devienne autre chose, avant qu'il ne devienne ce mot dont on a peur, ce mot qu'on ne doit pas dire, ce mot qui tue...

Mon fils, je ne sais pas ce que toi tu vas choisir de devenir et quoi que tu fasses, ce sera ton choix. Que tu croies en Yahvé ou Buddha, ce sera ton choix, que tu aimes un homme ou pas, ce sera ton choix, mais moi, j'avais besoin que tu saches qui je suis.

Je suis musulman, mon fils, j'ai choisi de croire qu'un homme, simple, a entendu une voix, un soir dans une grotte, qui lui parlait de justice sociale, de protéger l'orphelin, de soutenir la veuve, de donner plus de droits...rien d'autre...juste ça...

Mon fils, j'ai choisi alors de me prosterner cinq fois par jour, parce que ça me fait du bien de sentir le sol, la terre. Cette terre que je finirai bien par rejoindre un jour...

J'ai choisi, pendant un mois, en hiver comme en été, de me priver, sans aucun motif rationnel, juste parce que cette voix l'avait demandé...

J'ai choisi de croire que les femmes et les hommes sont égaux, même si à l'époque où parlait cette voix, ça n'était pas encore complètement le cas...

Voilà ce que je suis mon fils, rien d'autre. Je veux que tu le saches...

Je veux que tu saches, mon fils, que lorsqu'on massacre des gens parce qu'ils sont différents, c'est moi qu'on assassine, mon fils, devant tes yeux...

Mon fils, aujourd'hui, je ne sais plus ce que veut dire musulman et je veux que tu saches que j'ai peur, comme toi, j'ai peur...mais pas de ce qui risque de nous arriver...non...j'ai confiance en cette voix à laquelle j'ai choisi de croire...

Non, mon fils, j'ai peur de ce que nous pourrions encore commettre en nous cachant derrière cette voix, en justifiant qu'elle nous demande de tuer, massacrer, égorger, violer en son nom alors qu'elle n'a jamais rien demandé...

Mon fils, je suis musulman, retiens-le, ne l'oublie jamais, un jour tu leur diras, un jour tu leur crieras: mon père était musulman, il a écouté sa voix et il sait qu'elle n'a jamais demandé ça...

Tu leur diras mon fils, promets-le-moi, tu leur diras, avant que l'obscurité ne s'abatte sur moi...
