Dorothy Cosonas

Creative Director, KnollTextiles

Dorothy Cosonas is the Creative Director of both KnollTextiles and Knoll Luxe. She is known for combining clean, clear color with modern, elegant patterns and textures. Her work is highly influenced by her passion for fine art and international fashion.

Cosonas is the recipient of numerous awards for her work, including Best of NeoCon Gold awards for her KnollTextiles upholstery collection (2006, Icon, Empire Stripe, English Accent, Cross Stitch, and Coco), the Vista collection (2011), as well as for her inaugural collection for Knoll Luxe (2008), and her collection with Rodarte for Knoll Luxe (2010). Her work was featured in an exhibition on KnollTextiles at the Bard Graduate Center in New York.
Most recently, some of Ms. Cosonas' textile designs for KnollTextiles were accepted into the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum.

Ms. Cosonas developed an interest in design at a young age. Her grandfather was a painter and fabric merchant; her mother a calligrapher and architectural render. Ms. Cosonas is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, where she earned degrees in both fine arts and textile design. She interned at Unika Vaev under Sina Pearson, then the division's creative director. She was appointed Unika Vaev's design director in 1994 and in 1999 she became a vice president of the firm. She joined Knoll in 2005.
