Edgard Laborde

Project Coordinator for Power Up Communities

Edgard Laborde has worked in the political, government, private sector, not-for-profit, and union sectors building relationships to help community development and job creation. Working as a legislative aide for a Suffolk County Legislator, Edgard was able to work on pivotal pieces of legislation that became national benchmarks. His work as a field director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee allowed him spend time in Georgia, Louisiana and North Carolina. He also has worked Campaigns in New York, specifically Long Island.

As a government affairs/community relations manager in New York City for private real estate/mangement firm The Pinnacle Group, Edgard was able to see how the private sector builds and maintains relationships with the community and stakeholders. Edgard briefly working at the SEIU 32BJ as a Lobbyist before joining Power Up Communities, a project initiated by The Long Island Progressive Coalition. At Power Up Communities Edgard Leads the campaign to create "green collar" jobs and weatherize/retrofit homes so that they are energy efficient.
