Eric Sawyer

Eric Sawyer is a social justice & HIV activist who helped create ACT UP NY, Housing Works, Health GAP, worked at UNAIDS NYO and is VP of Public Affairs at GMHC.

Eric Sawyer is a long time social justice, HIV and Human Rights activist who is a founding member of ACT UP NY, a Co-Founder of Housing Works, Inc., a Co-Founder of HealthGAP, Inc., a former staff member of UNAIDS NYO and the VP of Public Affairs and Policy at GMHC. In addition to helping to create the HIV/AIDS Activist movement, Eric is one of the creators of the HIV housing movement, he helped create the movement for global access to HIV treatments for people living with HIV in the developing world and is a Founding Member of the Board of Directors of the New York City AIDS Memorial. As one of the longest term survivors of HIV/AIDS and his reputation and work on social justice issue in the context of HIV are well known through out the world.
